All Eyes on You ( 5 minuet Horror ).
Evaluation:
I contributed to this production by being the writer & director both roles had equal amount of responsibility. I had to take charge of the productions artistic and dramatic aspects, also visualising the script to help guide the technical crew and actors to what I wanted.
I think the impact it made was that it appeals to Channel 4's target market which is broadly in line with the general population average in terms of age (15-25+) and gender & the gap it had for horror series.
The production is definitely appropriate for our intended target audience, this was achieved in a few methods. One was by having younger and middle age characters so the same age range of our own intended target audience, also the locations of the woods, skate park & classrooms make it appeal to a wide range as we all are familiar with the urban setting.
Our final production compared to our original intentions changed quite a lot in terms of characters and specific ways they got killed off. The original idea was to have 3 students instead of 2. The reason this changed was because of transport issues with the actor who was supposed to play Skylar, this meant that I had to take her character out and re-write a script. To be honest i think only having two students in the film made it a lot easier keeping the film to 5 minuets as there was less need for dialogue, the only downside to this is that the film is extremely male dominated. Another change was to make the story make more sense and flow better we altered the dialogue. To keep to the 5 minuets the editor took scene 2 out and along with that the radio report in the background.
The techniques I used were sticking to specific codes & conventions of the horror genre such as the codes of a psychological themed horror where the story is based on characters fears, character conventions antagonist v protagonist and using a combination of camera techniques, high angles, low angles etc.
I believe the content of the film was good as it got a clear story across, I think the story itself was good and the actors agreed, it was challenging fitting everything in with time constraints but I managed to stick to the guidelines.
If I were to film this again I think I could've changed or improved on something, I think the film lacked background music could've been used for suspense and having the female character as I originally intended.
